About Oreck Corporation Upon return from the army after World War II, David Oreck discovered his innate talent as a salesman selling Whirlpool appliances and more while working at RCA Corporation. In 1963, he left RCA to pursue his solo endeavor with Oreck Corporation. Although Whirlpool hadn't been able to make its upright vacuum a successful seller, Oreck redesigned it and with the rights from Whirlpool, marketed it throughout the United States.
